Hakuoki 3DS Walkthrough – Sanosuke Harada route

1280978499366_hz-cnmyalibaba-web3_4877Sanosuke Harada is one of six male characters it’s possible to have a romance with in Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for 3DS. He’s a carefree young man with surprising depth, and cares a great deal for his friends in the Shinsengumi, especially Nagakura, who has been with him ever since Shiai Hall. Harada sees a warrior as a man who should always raise his sword to defend women and children, and therefore he sees it as his duty to protect our heroine, rather than it being her own – which is quite sweet in its own way :3 His honour means so much to him that he once cut his stomach open just to prove himself to another samurai (talk about excessive!). You’re in for a real treat with Harada’s ending – his is by far the most satisfying, closed-book ending of all the Shinsengumi, and well worth leaving as one of your last 😀

*In Harada’s case, you only have to follow a good ending to get all the CGs, woohoo!* (feel free to branch off and get bad endings, but for this reason I haven’t included any of the bad endings in the walkthrough)

Hakuoki 3DS Walkthrough – Hajime Saito route

Saito-Hajime-anime-guys-13062857-225-350Hajime Saito is one of six male characters it’s possible to have a romance with in Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for 3DS. He’s an honourable and skilled samurai and a dedicated captain of the Shinsengumi. Saito is a man of few words, but his actions speak volumes for his compassionate and loyal nature, and, always putting the Shinsengumi’s needs before his own, he would gladly give his life defending them and doing what is right. He’s adorably inexperienced in love, though, so prepare for some cute blushes when you least expect them!

*In Saito’s case, you only have to follow a good ending to get all the CGs, woohoo!* (feel free to branch off and get bad endings, but for this reason I haven’t included any of the bad endings in the walkthrough)

106015Toshizo Hijikata is one of six male characters it’s possible to have a romance with in Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for 3DS. The demonic vice-commander of the Shinsengumi is not one to be trifled with. A strict disciplinarian to his troops, Hijikata lives and breathes for his men and for the samurai code, and has worked his entire life to see Kondou win the glory and recognition he deserves. Hijikata has a bit of a thing for the stiff upper lip, so he rarely shows his weaknesses to others, although for our heroine, he might make an exception… 😉

Below I’ve plotted Hijikata’s good ending route, complete with different branches into the bad endings and the one good ending, for the completion of your Hijikata CG gallery!

Hakuoki 3DS Walkthrough – Chikage Kazama and Normal routes

hakuouki_chikage_kazama_render_by_shizusally-d60h2wtChikage Kazama is one of six male characters it’s possible to have a romance with in Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for 3DS. Sexy demon alert! Kazama’s the aloof type, an extremely powerful, pure-blooded demon clan leader who, despite his feigned disinterest in the Shinsengumi, is still somewhat compelled by their samurai spirit. More than anything, he respects balls, and the heroine will impress him if she’s got some. Not literally. By balls I mean guts. Yeah. Anyway. He’s a tough cookie, this one, but I love a bad guy and his voice is just too deep and dreamy to hate.

Kazama’s route can branch off from the normal ending route, so I’ve grouped them together. In order to get these endings, you basically have to remain neutral – DO NOT get close to any of the other men. Because of this, there are a number of ways in which you can complete this route, mixing up options, but this is just how I did it. The normal ending gives away its own CG so it’s worth completing once, although it leaves a bit of hollowness in the heart when the heroine doesn’t end up with anyone 😦

Kazama has 5 storyline CGs, which go to the ‘Others’ tab in the Gallery.

This route is the truest route that includes every possible instance of interaction you can get with Kazama.

Because Kazama is a secret romance option he does not have his own romance bar and cannot have his romance increased like the other men, so there won’t be any red highlighted answers in this route like there are in the others.

Despite his wry smiles, carefree nature and quite frankly disturbing interest in killing people, underneath it all he has a softer side and does eventually come to consider the heroine as a member of the Shinsengumi. For some reason I felt drawn to Okita, even though he kept casually threatening to kill me. Meh, I’ve always liked the bad guys – attraction to violence? 😛 I don’t think that is something I should be proud of. Regardless, he’s quite the badass, and that means he’s down in my book, and his good ending CG is super sweet!

Toudou.Heisuke.full.261654Heisuke Toudou is one of six male characters it’s possible to have a romance with in Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for 3DS. He’s the little guy, the sweet and funny one, and pretty deceptive (prepare for a massive transformation – he gets HOT in Chapter 6!). I loved Heisuke’s route because it was the only one that made me chuckle; Heisuke and Shinpachi’s banter is hilarious! It was also by far the most interesting and surprising route. I chose Heisuke first because I happened to pick his romance option first and just thought I’d carry through with it – after Kazama, he’s probably my favourite character! 🙂

Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi 3DS Walkthrough Index

This is the index for the route walkthroughs of Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi for 3DS, since there are six of them and I like being neat! These are the ways I did them after a bit of trial and error, monopolising one guy all the way through, and must admit the characters’ personalities and preferred responses aren’t as incredibly difficult to figure out as some otome games I’ve pulled my hair out over – I’m looking at you, Tokimeki Memorial! (oooh, don’t get me started on the whole, ‘He’s saying I would look nice in this outfit, so do I say I think so too? But he might be mocking me and I’ll disappoint him if I say I like the clothes when in actual fact he hates them, OH GOD WHICH CHOICE DO I MAKE, WHICH IS ITTTT?!) *ahem*

Good Endings and CGs

All the male characters have a few bad endings and one good ending (except for special demon boy, Kazama, who only has a good ending). This walkthrough is wholly dedicated to earning the good endings of each male character and to completing the CG gallery in the main menu, therefore, where possible, I have provided the quickest route in the walkthroughs and ignore listing routes to bad endings if it is possible to get all of a character’s CGs through paths to their one good ending. Earning CGs quickly, with minimal fuss, requires strategic saving, so in order to save you time I’ve plotted where you should save your game, then reload and branch off down a different route so that you collect them all (gotta catch ’em all, after all!).

Prologue, skip!

Despite the fact that there is a Prologue to this game, you’ll notice I’ve skipped it in the walkthroughs. This is just because it’s inconsequential after the first playthrough – it’s just exposition and I always skipped the whole scene every subsequent new game 🙂

I’d recommend leaving Hijikata’s route until last – he’s the pinup guy of the game, and as usual, his route turns out to be the longest and most revealing in terms of the Shinsengumi’s story.  I actually went through in this order: Toudou » Okita » Kazama ❤ » Saito » Harada » Hijikata, although my favourite route was Kazama’s 🙂
